Carisbrooke Shipping Ltd 50th Anniversary

Carisbrooke Shipping Ltd is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

From humble beginnings, Carisbrooke has grown to become one of the UK’s largest shipping companies. Established in 1969 by the late Mark Croucher and Willem Wester, the privately owned business owns and operates 32 ships from its offices in Cowes, Isle of Wight and Dordrecht, the Netherlands.
Willem Wester led the business up to his retirement in 2007 and remains involved as a non-executive director ensuring that the same family principles on which the company were founded continue to this day. The second generation of the two families continue to be involved as shareholders, side by side with present management.

A key feature of Carisbrooke’s growth story has been the company’s success in building ships and renewing an ageing fleet with innovative and fuel efficient designs for the Group and its fellow owners. Since 1996, Carisbrooke has built over 100 ships in China, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, and Romania. Once the ships have been delivered and are in the water, our competent crew on board and ashore in the office have full focus on delivering safe and efficient cargo operations to our customers.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff, customers, suppliers and friends; this 50-year milestone is a testament to their longstanding commitment and support. With the continued backing of so many dedicated and loyal people, we look forward in taking our business to the next level.
