Carisbrooke Shipping are owners and managers of a fleet of dry bulk cargo vessels trading worldwide, from our offices in Cowes (UK) and Rotterdam (Netherlands).

The appropriate candidate will be responsible for the efforts and results of the Finance Department. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (CEO/COO) in regards to all financial and accounting activities. Overseeing Finance Department on day-to-day operations.

Specific duties include:
• Oversee all company accounts and investments
• Create monthly, quarterly and annual management reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts
• Responsible for Group Consolidation
• Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
• Suggest updates/improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing
• Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
• Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation
• Collaborate with auditing services and tax advisors to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
• Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports
• Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
• Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
• Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
• Report to the COO with timely and accurate financial information
• Assist the COO and CEO in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.
Financial Controller Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, business, economics or a related field.
• Several years’ experience in a business or finance environment.
• Management experience; leadership skills; interpersonal skills; excellent mathematical skills; honesty; integrity; reliability; solid written and verbal communication skills; high attention to detail; organisational skills; critical thinking and problem-solving skills; research skills; analytical skills; computer skills; understanding of data privacy standards.
• Autonomous, proactive approach with ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Excellent excel skills due to high level of interaction between the accounting system and excel;
• An understanding of the shipping environment would be an advantage.

Carisbrooke Shipping are owners and managers of a growing fleet of dry bulk cargo vessels.

Applicants should be self motivated, confident, methodical, computer literate (including Excel and Word), and possess good communication skills.

The role involves working in a team with duties including:

  • Processing requisitions received from the fleet for consumables, spares, services and equipment in a timely manner.
  • Checking order acknowledgements
  • Keeping accurate records of Purchases made
  • Checking/recording invoices
  • Working closely with Freight forwarders on worldwide deliveries.

Experience in maritime engineering or purchasing would be an advantage, although not essential as training will be given.
