24 Peaks Challenge 2023 for The Seafarers’ Charity

24 Peaks. 2 days. 33 miles. 13,000 ft ascent. Raising vital funds to support The Seafarers’ Charity – helping those who work at sea and their families.

In 2023, Carisbrooke is looking to take on the 24 Peaks in order to raise money in aide of seafarers and local seafaring charities. This is a well known event to Carisbrooke, as we have been a regular entrant with teams taking part annually since 2006. The Challenge is in aide of The Seafarers Charity and over the years we have taken part we have raised in excess of £125,000.

In 2022, Carisbrooke won a prize for the “Top Fundraiser” with two Carisbrooke teams of 12 persons in total who took part , plus ofc our fantastic support driver & cheerleader Tina.

For those unfamiliar with the event, it is held in the Lake District, and consists of walking/hiking 24 Peaks each over 2,400ft over a 2 day period with the aim to complete the Challenge in an aggregate time of 24 hours or less. This year’s event will be over the weekend of the 1-2nd July 2023, and we have provisionally entered two teams of up to six. Further details on the Challenge are on the following web site link 24-peaks-challenge-2023 and YouTube film the organisers made on the 2022 challenge 24 Peaks 2022 Challenge video.

There are numerous web sites with further details on the challenge, where the following quote is quite apt: “This is by far the toughest Lake District challenge event and a high level of physical fitness and thorough preparation are essential to ensure suc cess – so be prepared!”. If anything they are downplaying it (!), and this event is not for the faint hearted.

NB In the last few years (prior to COVID), the weather Gods have been kind to us with mainly dry sunny weather which is not wholly representative based on past experiences of the Lakes (including 2022 which threw everything weather wise at us)!

If you are interested to take part, or know of any of CS seafarers/customers or suppliers who might be interested in such a Challenge, please get in touch. We need to confirm details and participants, ideally by the end of February.

Regards,

Robert
