Fleet Optimisation

At Carisbrooke Shipping, we have been monitoring vessel performance and collecting operational data for more than 15 years. This data is used to optimise every voyage and achieve the best possible outcome for our customers and stakeholders.

Initially, voyage optimisation was carried out manually, with experienced mariners providing direct support and guidance to Masters. However, with the advent of digital twins and AI-driven analytics, vast amounts of operational and environmental data can now be processed rapidly and integrated directly into voyage planning.

Our objective is simple: every vessel should arrive safely, on time and with the lowest possible fuel consumption. Through close coordination between all parties involved, vessels can often arrive “Just in Time”, delivering significant cost savings while improving CII performance and other sustainability metrics.

Today, up to 28 different variables - ranging from weather systems and ocean conditions to vessel dynamic performance factors - are fed into the optimisation algorithms to determine the route of least resistance. Since establishing our Fleet Operations Centre, we have also seen weather and cargo related insurance claims reduce to near zero, demonstrating the operational and commercial value of proactive voyage optimisation.
